Walks like... A Penguin

We had a very active day today! No School so I entertained both of the boys all morning. Aidan thinks he is big enough not to have to take a nap anymore.... he will sit in his crib for 2 hours then I pull him out and he passes out on his own around 430pm, which is not good.

Aidan had an OT session today. I love his Occupational Therapist. She is great. Today was her first day seing Aidan walking in his bare feet and she made a suggestion that perhaps his "penguin like waddling" had to due with his very wide and flat feet. She said that his pediatrician could write him a referral to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital and they would create him a pair of arch insoles for free. I suspect when she says free, she means after they bill our insurance. Really, what is free anymore in the medical world. She said he's been walking for 7 months now and his "waddling should have subsided". I personally think it's cute, but I can see how it will get in the way when he wants to run soon.

I went to the gym this afternoon for my free evaluation. I knew what was coming. I'm overweight (no really, according to my BMI.. I am). I have the Cardiovascular Health of a 44 year old (yes, I am 36). And then the big sales pitch. We would like you to join our running program to increase your cardiovascular health and it's 170/month. Hmm, I think I can buy a heart rate monitor watch at Target and slowly build myself up running again. Who really feels like starting marathon training when they should lose 20 pounds before they attempt to run. I will start again, I lost 5 pounds last week. I feel stronger. It's a good feeling. So far, the kids are doing well at the gym so I have 2 hours a day to myself to work out, while they get to enjoy a lavish kids camp with lots of peer interaction. I am blessed.

Anyways, Aidan is still awake and it's 9pm. I need to due some tough Toddler negotiations.

Hi

Free is really free at Scotish Rite. They don't accept insurance unless something has recently changed.

Hope this helps!

Best Wishes to you and your family
